bjenk8100 Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem. I think its a memory issue becuase it has only happened on huge drawings. I will copy text and paste it and it is invisible to the eye while in paperspace, however, if i click where it is inside a circle it will allow me to edit it, then after editing and clicking outside the text box it is invisible. If i do print preview it is shown and also plotted just invisible in my drawing on the computer. Pretty weird but i think its a memory issue but feedback would be great if anyone else experienced this before. tnx Quote
CyberAngel Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 It's possible that the system drops into Quick Text when it gets overloaded. That means you only see a frame for the text instead of the text item. Is it possible that these missing text objects show up only as frames? Just as a diagnostic, you might adjust your Display Performance settings on the Display tab in Options. If that helps, then it's likely that AutoCAD is indeed overloaded. Quote
bjenk8100 Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 well when dealing with these drawings and i have more than one open it seems to happen. also soemtimes it will say something along the lines of memory overload autocad is shutting down. system specs: intel core I5 750 @ 2.67 GHz 4 GB Ram (2.67 usable) 32 bit OS windows 7 Would it be a good idea to add some RAM Quote
ReMark Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 You should not be having an problems with memory on your system based on the specs I am seeing. What size hard drive do you have? How much free space is on it? Do you let Windows manage your virtual memory? My work computer has specs that are similar and I have no memory problems. I'm running XP Pro 32-bit with 4GB RAM installed (3GB switch enabled) on a Pentium 4 3.0GHz system board. Quote
bjenk8100 Posted October 19, 2010 Author Posted October 19, 2010 windows manage virtual memory? I dont know anything about this. Is windows suppose to or not? How would i go about finding this information. I will google it now though. Quote
ReMark Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 The default setting is for Windows to manage your virtual memory (i.e. - page or "swap" file). This discussion has come up before most recently in a post by Tiger who was have an acute "out of memory" problem. Had to be within the past 4 to 6 weeks if I recall correctly. Quote
