why does ACAD Mech. force text onto TEXTS layer??

I have no idea how, but very recently whenever I use the TEXT or MTEXT command in ACAD Mech 2011, all of my text is being forced onto the "TEXTS" layer....I don't know that I'm necessarily opposed to that, but why did it happen? I'm sitting next to another computer with the same program, and it doesn't happen like that...

You AMSTANDARDS are set up differently. It is an intended part of the software to enforce company style and standards rules. There must be a discrepancy between you and the other machine though.
