ReMark Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Layers can be created in the Layer Properties Manager. Quote
ReMark Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Layers are not "applied" they are created. Layers are helpful in controlling the complexity of a drawing and for being able to make sense of what's being shown. A layer can have a unique name (ex. - Windows, or Piping, or Gear). Layers can be assigned their own color, their own linetype and can be set to plot or not to plot (among other things). Open your Layer Properties Manager (LPM) and press the key-combo of and an entry will be made with the default name of Layer1. This layer will take on the properties of whatever layer is set as "Current" at the time. You can change the name of the layer along with all the other properties that are indicated. When you are done, click in any blank area of the LPM then close it. Do you know how to make a layer "current"? Are you using AutoCAD 2009 with the Ribbon showing at the top of the screen? Do you know how to load various linetypes? Note that layers can be turned On/Off and they can be Frozen/Thawed as well as Locked/Unlocked. Might I suggest you make two new layers called Windows and Walls and also create another layer for Dimensions. Quote
