lasbury Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Hey all, I just started using AutoCAD 2009 today and have begun self-teaching. I'm doing the Getting Started Guide and am "Creating Spaces to Calculate Floor Plan." You use the linework in a 2D floor plan sketch (created in AutoCAD) to quickly generate 2D spaces complete with tags that report each room area. After you create the spaces, you place a room schedule that automatically reads the area information from the space tags, and reports it in the schedule table. I'm tagging the spaces, (ex. Office-Large, Reception, Corridor) but in the guide there are two spaces that I can't find (Copy Room and Refreshments) in the list or under "More space tools." Is that a hint to create my own space description? Do those spaces come with AutoCAD 2009? I thought that they would be defaulted there in the list so I wouldn't have to go crazy looking for them (it is a tutorial after all...) I tried to alter the name properties of a space and it didn't take. Whew, thanks, it's such a simple question... Quote
lasbury Posted November 1, 2010 Author Posted November 1, 2010 okay, I found it in the drop down list for 'properties' but not in the scrolling list Tool Palettes-Design. Quote
lasbury Posted November 1, 2010 Author Posted November 1, 2010 Okay sooo... I'm directed to the "Room Area Schedule" tool on the tool palette. But there's no tool button there, and when I try to make a schedule tag it says there's no property information on the spaces I tagged. (But I checked and there is in extended data, at least I think so.) What am I doing wrong? :S Quote
