Grant Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 Only thing left is the Automatic save. Search your drive for *.ac$ You can see the file type '.ac$' in - 'options' - 'open and save' tab - File safety precautions Hope this helps Quote
rkent Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 First off, you worked the whole day and never hit save once. I save manually at least every 10 minutes. Autosave won't help you as it is meant to work only if AutoCAD crashes. If you exit normally then the autosave file is deleted. Unless you work on a network and a backup was made some time during the day you are probably out of luck. Are you using Win7 by any chance? If so you might be able to use restore previous version. nestly Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 AutoSave files are deleted from the autosave directorey when AutoCAD closes normally, but they're likely still in your Recycle Bin. Quote
MarcoW Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 For this problem there might be a lisp (program) around this forum that is based on a reactor, it basically saves your drawing every 10 commands, or 20 or whatever you like. It should be in the lisp section of this forum... Quote
buicluka Posted November 10, 2010 Author Posted November 10, 2010 Thenk you guys, I've found a .bak copy in the autocad automatic save file location! you can find the folder by going in autocad : format - options - files - automatic save file location Quote
ReMark Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Source: DotSoft - Tips & Tricks AutoCAD Temp & Backup Files In AutoCAD, other than the DWG file, there are other files you are working with, whether you know it or not. BAK files: Unless you turn it off in OPTIONS, when you save a drawing that already exists on file, the .DWG is renamed to .BAK, then the new data is written to .DWG. Don't rely on this for true safety of your files, because .BAK files have been known to become corrupt. AC$ Files: These are temporary files created by AutoCAD during the process of creating the drawing. They are only of value to AutoCAD during editing and are usually cleaned up when AutoCAD closes. These files are useless if AutoCAD crashes. SV$ Files: These are autosave files, controlled by the setting inthe OPTIONS dialog. These files are the equivalent of a DWG, you would only need to rename them if AutoCAD crashes. It's important to note that if AutoCAD closes normally, these files are deleted! Quote
