Automatically attaching object data by layer

I have two questions. One rather easy, one a tad more complex.

For the work that I do, whenever I draw in utility lines, they need to be attached with object data to function with our GIS.

So to make things easier for me, I was wondering if there was a way so that whenever I create a line that it automatically attaches the appropriate object data For example, whenever I draw a line on the sanitary layer, I'd like it to attach the info from the sanitary table. Currently, when I'm done drawing up all the lines, I'll go through the drawing and attach the object data line by line. To avoid missing lines and to make it a tad easier, I'd like to know if I could automate it.

Here's my second, slightly more complex question.

Right now we're working on a project that will last several months. The plan is that once a week, our GIS guys will take a look at what I've drawn up and add the new lines into their system. To make sure that they add the most recent lines, it's been suggested to me that I either a) add an extra field to each of the object data tables with the week's date in it, or b) tag every line with another data table that just has that week's date in it.

Either way, is there a way so that I can remove the lines that have been already tagged with a date so that at the end of the week I can see all my new lines and update them with the proper week?

Thanks for the help either way.

Q1 I dont know how you add the object data but if you can do it now then yeah automate it, something like a lisp or script that asks for line/pline then object data and just does it.

Can you explain more the adding of object data i don't use MAP hardly at all, what command is used to add the data look at your txt screen _aecmapaddadata ?

Depending on how this data is added then that answers Q2.
