Do you know what a plane is? It's a flat or level surface.

Co-planner lines are lines that lie in the same plane. They have the same consistent Z elevation all the way along their lengths. So, knowing that, what would non co-planner lines be?

To solve the problem, run the FLATTEN command. Provided you have the Express Tools loaded.

Select each line (separatly) and check the Z value for the endpoints in the properties dialog. If they are different then there is little chance that the lines with intersect, so they can't be filleted. Make the Z values the same in the properties dialog, then they will fillet.

Dear Cad64,

is there a setting in Cad 2010, that sets the level surface to stay flat always. My drawing has all lines in all different surfaces, i can see it by using orbit viewer. thanks alot for your knowledge...:)

Are you doing a 3D drawing?

Are you drawing in a plan (top down) view?

Make sure you are drawing at an elevation of 0.00 by typing the word Elevation at the command line, press Enter and checking what the setting is. The default is 0.000 normally.

Also make sure your UCS is set to World. Better yet, type the word Plan at the command line, press Enter and set it to World.

You might want to check the setting of your OSNAPZ variable.

If set to 0, Osnap uses the "X", "Y" and "Z" value of the snapped point.

If set to 1, Osnap uses the "X" & "Y" location of the snapped point and the current value of the ELEVATION system variable. This allows you to snap to any line in your drawing, but whatever you draw will always stay at the same Z elevation.

If you need a quick fix to make sure they are all co-planer and you are not concerned about losing the current elevations of the entities then use the FLATTEN command.
