msimm15 Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I need to find the total sq ft of non-load bearing partitions in a floor. I have the cad file and i know which walls are non load bearing but how do I find out the total ft. Do I need to dimension each wall and then add them all up later - there has to be a better way. I know I can take the area of the room but there are rooms that share adjoining walls so those would essentially be counted twice. Is there a quicker way. BTW I am using autocad 2011. If I import the file into revit is there an easier way Quote
BIGAL Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 You would need to draw plines of the floor areas then you could just add up the area of these plines, I am pretty sure I have seen an add areas lisp. As for auto doing maybe a ray tracing program that creates boundary's / makes a pline. If you have been carefull and drawn the walls on one layer maybe hatching the floor, you can get the area of hatch's and add them up manual or program. Either way I dont think you can just throw a floor plan at something if its not constructed in some regimented form. Quote
Dana W Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Your post seems to diverge from the area of the partitions to the area of the floor. It is a little confusing. The area of the partitions would be the total of the length of all your non load bearing partitions multiplied by the height of the partitions. The area of any of the rooms has nothing to do with it.
