Designing Piston Head

Hi, I'm drawing a piston head on solid works, and I'm finding it quite hard, because i don't know where to start. Should i just start with a cylinder then shell it out?. Also the part where the piston head is shaved where the hole is, how do you cut that out of the shape. Any help would be great thanks.

There was a student that came on here asking a similar question. I wrote this general document for them to follow. This is by no means a usable piston, it was just for a visual representation.

Might be a good starting point or at least something to copy from.
