d_sut Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Hey all, So a BU in our company had made the decision to make the move to Civil 3D from LDD. There are a lot of long-time LDD employees in said BU who are fairly daunted by the version shift. They have recently road-blocked the shift by bringing in talk of: "so many people are unsatisfied with Civil 3D that they are bringing a lawsuit against Autodesk..." Anyone know any details of what they are talking about? Is is legitimate, are there that many truely unsatisfied users? Thanks. Quote
ReMark Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Sounds like a grumpy bunch of old men. One would think they could have come up with some much better arguements. How much time and effort have they put into tweaking or customizing LDD for instance? How does the company recoup monies spent on LDD training if it shifts to a different program? Can the company afford to make the switch at this time without incurring a large drop in productivity? Quote
sinc Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Many of us think Civil 3D was released prematurely. I myself think C3D 2008 was the first version where the benefits finally started to outweigh the problems, and C3D 2009 was the first version I think of as truly "production ready". Starting with C3D 2009, we were regularly able to do things faster, at higher quality levels, than we could before. And C3D 2011 is much better than C3D 2009. In short, there were a lot of unsatisfied users with the early releases, but now we absolutely run circles around LDD. I regularly do things in 1/2 hour in C3D that used to take a couple of DAYS in LDD. And I'm not exaggerating. I couldn't imagine using LDD at this point. And we're a Survey-only firm... C3D is probably even better for the Engineers. I don't know of any lawsuit like what you mention. Quote
rkmcswain Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Pretty much agree with everything SINC said.... Maybe I can sue Bentley since I'm unsatisfied with Microstation+Geopak? Quote

I'd just like to sue bentley... period, for using back handed politics and "free" software to sucker states into using @#$#^#%$^ software. Quote

You mean E$RI did? Not only to States but also to the schools then make them pay out the @$$ to upgrade to a current version. Quote
Murph_map Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I want to sue all you C3D users that are using the MAP tools with out taking a Geospatical class on MAP3D. Quote
butzers09silverado Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I agree with that too.... lol:D Quote
