Open file in lower command box

When I go to 'file-open' it is making me go through the bottom command box to open a new file. How do I switch it back so that when I click 'file-open' it opens up a new box that allows me to browse though my folders and choose the file I want to open? Thank you!

Filedia=1

You can type a tilde ~ and hit enter when this happens, that will bring up the dialog box and you can keep working. Later you can change filedia when it is more convenient.
