andrew239 Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Recently i changed the location for my auto save files. Since I have done that, the sv$ files do not appear in the recovery manager. I made sure there was a support file search path to the folder in the options menu, but still they do not show. Does anybody have any ideas ? Quote
ReMark Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Shouldn't the location where you have your auto save files be listed in the Automatic Save File Location and not the Support File Search Path? Quote
andrew239 Posted December 14, 2010 Author Posted December 14, 2010 Sorry, I should have mentioned that, the automatic save file location is listed correctly, with the folder i want them to go in. For whatever reason, they are not showing in the recovery manager. I then added the support file search path back to that folder just in case that was the problem, but it did not seem to help. Quote
ReMark Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 What location is shown? Why was it necessary to change where recovered files were being saved to in the first place? Quote
andrew239 Posted December 14, 2010 Author Posted December 14, 2010 i just wanted to put them somewhere easily accesable wherethey would not get lost and i didnt have to dig through layers of subfolders to find them. the location is P:\AUTO SAVE Quote
ReMark Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Well how can I say this nicely Andrew? You went through a lot of trouble for nothing. All you wanted to do was avoid drilling down to the right folder. I understand that. But what you should have done was copied the path listed for Automatic Save File Location and then created a new shortcut with this path in it and place it on your desktop. Any time you wanted to see the contents of this folder all you had to do was double-click on the shortcut. There really wasn't any real need to start changing paths. Quote
ReMark Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 fair enough Sometimes we end up outsmarting ourselves and in the process create a problem where one did not exist before. Quote
andrew239 Posted December 14, 2010 Author Posted December 14, 2010 it would seem so. One more question, in the options under open and save, should the file extension for temporary files be .ac$, or .sv$ i am running autocad2010 ? Quote
ReMark Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Temporary files? .ac$ is the default. However, I believe the user can change this designation if they choose. Quote
