View Full Version : Inserting blocks with coordinates from Excell

Hello,
I'm pretty confident that this can be done as I've done it before but I'm suffering from a mental block (to many mine pies!).
I have a list of a hundred or so points with x and y coordinates. I want to insert these into AutoCAD without putting each on as a single point.
I think it was done by setting the pdmode and pdsize then another command?
Any help would be very appricated.
Cheers,
Mark

Are you using a txt or csv file by any chance?

None of the above, I just have the coordinates listed in an excel spreadsheet.

What symbol do you want to use to represent each point?

The answer you were searching for was right here under both ours noses: Michael's Corner. Click on the link below. Scroll down to the section called The Odd Spot. Michael explains how to get coordinates from Excel into AutoCAD.

I changed the script file to 'point' and its point a point in at each location I needed. Saved hours!
Happy new year,

Easier still if you just want a point trying to remember its another post here copy the x,y of all the points in one go from excel
In autocad "point" then paste all should appear in one go.
This works for line & pline etc as well
