Hippe013 Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Does anyone know of a lisp for an orthogonal best fit plane? Or can anyone explain the process of extracting the plane? Any help is appreciated! regards hippe013 Quote
BIGAL Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Are you trying to fit a 3d plane to 3d points as best fit ? Quote
Hippe013 Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 BIGAL Are you trying to fit a 3d plane to 3d points as best fit ? Yes. I am trying to create a best fit 3D plane using 3D points and minimizing the orthogonal distances to the plane. Quote
BIGAL Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 There is a mathmatical answer you normally pick a direction and it fits a plane, this is used for laser grading farm paddocks. Software exists commercially but sorry can not help with a lisp. Try googling survey formulas Quote
