Cat Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I'm replacing an old titileblock with a new titleblock using, for ex. Title1=Title2 For some reason, the new Title Blocks attribute information is out of sync The tag and the value are correct, but the prompts are scrambled. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks Quote
ReMark Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 It sounds like you may have reversed the order the attributes were selected in. Quote
Cat Posted January 12, 2011 Author Posted January 12, 2011 Hi Remark I know in the older versions of Autocad, when you made a block with attributes, you had to pick the definitions in the order you wanted the prompts to appear, but I've never had a situation where the definitions intermingled. But I've also never worked behind drawings that may have gone through "other" custom programs before I started working for the company I work for now. Quote
ReMark Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Are you allowed to change the original titleblock and border drawing? You could edit the order of the attributes. Quote
Cat Posted January 12, 2011 Author Posted January 12, 2011 Well, I have free rein to edit the titleblock, but I'm using a script to replace the old one with the new one so I'm not actually picking the attribute order. I really wouldn't care if the attributes where just "out of order", but the prompts being out of order with the tag and value really bugs me. lol I'm just not sure how that even occurred, but working behind international companies can sometimes be like opening a box of cracker jacks....there's a surprise in every box. ccowgill Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 look into attsync to fix the sync of the attributes, and into battman for fixing the order of the blocks without re-picking. Quote
Cat Posted January 12, 2011 Author Posted January 12, 2011 look into attsync to fix the sync of the attributes, and into battman for fixing the order of the blocks without re-picking. Thank you. I jumped from 2002 to 2008 and have missed a lot of the commands and variables. I'll try that as soon as I start work and report back. Quote
ReMark Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Use BATTMAN to change the order of attribute values is what I believe CCowgill meant. ATTSYNC Updates block references with new and changed attributes from a specified block definition. Attsync works best when it comes to changing a single block's attributes then updating similar blocks in a drawing. Quote
ccowgill Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Use BATTMAN to change the order of attribute values is what I believe CCowgill meant. you are correct, I guess thats what happens when one is trying to do more than one thing at a time. Quote
ReMark Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Been there...messed that up too myself. Hey, it was only one word. Nobody is keeping score. If they were, I'd be batting about .250! Quote
Cat Posted January 12, 2011 Author Posted January 12, 2011 ATTSYNC was exactly what I needed. Thank you very much. I incorporated it into a script and I'm running it across the project as we speak. Btw, even though you said "block", my mind interpreted "attribute". I hadn't even noticed until Remark pointed it out. Quote
ccowgill Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 same situation I had, my mind interpreted "attribute", but my fingers lost the translation and wrote block. Quote
Cat Posted January 12, 2011 Author Posted January 12, 2011 Just out of curiousity, does anyone know what causes them to become out of sync? Quote
