K7RDB Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 I'm trying to design a rack panel that is a standard 19" wide. Every rack panel has holes on the side for mounting and is usually a cut notch on the side. I can draw a rectangle. and I can draw a hole. But I cant figure out how to cut a notch into a rectangle that I've already drawn. Any help would be much appreciated. See attached image for example: (this comes from another example DWG I found) Quote
iskalipsi Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Welcome to the forums. Do you know the notch measurement? are you doing this on 3d or 2d? Can you post a screenshot of what you are stuck at? Quote
nestly Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 The quickest method I can think of is to draw the circle at the base of the notch, then draw lines from the quadrants perpendicular to the edge of the panel, then TRIM it up. demo http://screencast.com/t/5uu9mEbnJek9 Quote
K7RDB Posted January 13, 2011 Author Posted January 13, 2011 Thats awesome! - I was going abt it very slowly drawing two polylines, then a FILLET, then a PEDIT, then a TRIM.... Thanks much!!! Quote
iskalipsi Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 kencaz made it easy for you. You dont need PEDIT there. FILLET and TRIM will do the job Quote

JD Mather Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 kencaz made it easy for you. You dont need PEDIT there. FILLET and TRIM will do the job Don't need trim either - fillet will do the job on it's own on parallel lines. Quote
