Hi to all, I want to know when to use this kinds of importing. If I x-ref an max file from other directory in my scene it hav only a pivot for moving if i move it deselect, scale and after that it becomes like freeze no acces to it and cant delete it, only the pivot point can be deleted but the object not. If I merge a file, all is ok can do a lot of movements, scale, select deselect, but it increase memory used file , how to import a file and dont increase the scene used space on hdd?
Thanks

Sorry, I'm not having this problem on my machine. This may be linked to your xref rendering problem. What version of Studio Max are you using? Have you loaded all the updates and service packs (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/index?siteID=123112&id=2334435&linkID=9241178)? You may need to run a repair on your installation.

and what is better and when to use? x-refs compared to merged objects... do max have a limit at 1 file lenght (mb)?

Yes, Max does have a limit as far as how big a file can get, but that limit depends on your computer and how you manage your scene. But even the best computer will start to slow down if the file starts to get too large, so use xrefs and proxy objects whenever possible. This will help to keep your scene light and manageable. Also, use layers to your advantage. Place certain objects on different layers so you can turn them off if you don't need them. If you manage your scene properly, you will be able to easily create very large and complex scenes.
