Can AutoCAD VBA control or change a custom AutoCAD Fields?

Can a person create a custom field in a text string then use autoCAD VBA to control its value? May the field
could be duplicate then autoCAD VBA to control the value of many text strings the have that custom field value?

I have used VBA to control attributes values in a drawing but what about field values?
