wrmurphy81 Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Can anyone tell me how to insert shape files from the local GIS? When I download the zip file it comes with four files: 1759.dbf 1759.prj 1759.shp 1759.shx Can I do anything with these? Thanks in advance! Quote
Murph_map Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 You can also use the Data Connect from the MAP Task pane (MAPWSPACE = ON) This method will create Map Features instead of standard AutoCAD objects. If all you want is the geomerty then mapimport will do it. Quote
butzers09silverado Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 You'll also want to make sure you have your coordinate systems matching between the esri stuff and civil 3d, it's not automatic and it is actually very specific. Quote

Depends on the version, in 2010 they fixed it as long as you have 1.) A coordinate system assigned to the dwg, 2.) Have the .prj file that goes with the shp file. In the import dialog it will read the E$RI prj file and transform the objects to match the dwg coordinates. Quote
wrmurphy81 Posted March 21, 2011 Author Posted March 21, 2011 Thanks for the help! MAPIMPORT did it for me... after I I setup the proper coordinate zone. Quote
