Greenbuoy Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Let's say I am inserting a square block into a dwg and want to get it parallel to an existing angled line. Do I have to read the angle of the line and insert the block to that angle or is there a quicker way? Quote
eldon Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Have you tried the Parallel OSNAP? I know that it is there but have been unsuccessful in trying to use it, so I use Polar tracking. Quote
SLW210 Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Try the ALIGN command after inserting. I use polar tracking as well. Quote
nestly Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 (edited) Here's 4 more ways to rotate your block parallel to existing geometry 1) Use the [R]otate option during insert and pic the points to align the block with before you drop the block in the drawing 2) Drop the block in the drawing and use the Parallel or Perpendicular OSNAP to align the block with an existing object 3) Drop the block in the drawing, and then use the Rotate command with OSNAP tracking, or the [R]eference option 4) Make it a Dynamic block with an alignment parameter. demo http://screencast.com/t/jL5V5znv1zC Edited February 11, 2011 by nestly Quote
rkent Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Set polar relative to last point. Insert block, pick an endpoint, nearpoint, etc. move your cursor to rotate block. Rotate UCS to object, insert, etc... Quote
Greenbuoy Posted February 13, 2011 Author Posted February 13, 2011 Many thanks to all for your help:D Quote
Organic Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 I would just insert the block at default rotation and then rotate it by reference to whatever angle I wanted it on. Quote
