First explode the text. Does Arch 2008 come with Express Tools? If so there is a text explode command (TXTEXP) included.

Text to Lines: if using LT or no Express Tools Loaded

1) Create or edit existing text to a width other than exactly 1.0, EX: 1.000001, on Layer 1.

2) At the command prompt, type WMFOUT, navigate to a folder to place the file and give it a name.

3) Select the text and hit enter.

4) WMFIN & select the wmf file you created

5) After selecting the base point, use 2 for the scale factor.

6) Explode the wmfin entity, set another layer current.

7) Change to layer 2

8 ) Place a rectangle around the entities and use BPOLY to create a clean outline of each letter.

9) Clean up is as simple as locking layers and erasing or moving the entities.

An old fashioned but real quick way was "dxbout" your text "dxbin" the file just made but it was the text all exploded.

Checked help and dxb is still there but its now under a plotting option I have not gone any further you will need to add the plotter to your list but should work with LT.
