laniergroup Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 working in Autocad 2011 and have a couple drawings with zoom extent quirks. when I go to model space and do zoom extents go to astronomical limits, the drawing geometry is a dot. I have tried turning all layers on and unlocked, and then erase crossing and grab everythin around drawing but no luck. have also tried resetting limints again no luck. help! Quote
SLW210 Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Take the physical part of the drawing you need and WBlock to a new DWG. Quote
rkmcswain Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Null text is unselectable, so there could be some of that floating around. You can get rid of them with the Purge command. Entities can be set to invisible also, preventing them from being selected. As a test....do a zoom extents again, then ERASE your main drawing geometry, then run the DBLIST command. This will list all remaining entities in the drawing, you might be able to see what it is and where it's at.... Quote
laniergroup Posted February 24, 2011 Author Posted February 24, 2011 thanks for the quick response, will try your suggestions. Quote
alanjt Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 You could do a select all, then remove your wanted objects from the selection and erase. Out of curiosity, are all your layers turn on? Quote

eldon Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 (edited) When I am looking for odds and ends around the edge, after I do the Zoom Extents, then I do a Zoom .7x, and there is then room to get a selection window around the edges Sometimes, the object is so close to the edge, that a selection window does not grab it after a zoom extents. BIGAL Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Couldn't agree more to Eldon see if you can see the two dots on the screen its a bit of a pain but select using window erase then z e again if you get say 1 line then you know your job was the other dot that you should not have erased. (when selected if it says its 500+ entities then its probably your job dont erase) If both dots say lots of entities then zoom on the dot till it apears or z c 100 work out what it is. Quote
Jack_O'neill Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 After looking at a drawing in another thread I had an idea. You might simply do your zoom extents, then orbit a few degrees and see if you have something out of whack in the z axis. It could be someting off at a slight angle, that while in plan view you can't see, or appears to be part of the drawing. Might not be visible, so drag a crossing around your drawing to activate the grips and see if there's something hanging out there somewhere. Quote
