Organic Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 First off, it is 'Autocad', not 'Aoutocad'. There is no easy way to take a printed plan or a pdf of a plan and put it into AutoCad and do work on it. You could scan the plan you have (either as an image or as a pdf) and insert that scanned image or pdf (Insert -> OLE object or Insert -> Raster reference), you could then scale that providing the plan has reference dimensions on it. You could then either trace that (i.e. recreate all the line-work) or if you only need to add to the plan and not change/move anything you could add your electrical details straight on top of the image/pdf althoguh that is not advisable. The best way to proceed would be to get the .dwg (the digital files) of the plan from the architect or wherever the plan come from, that will make it far easier for you. AutoCad doesn't come with many electrical symbols at all. You will need to create your own or possibly purchase some. Quote
ReMark Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 You can find some electrical symbols at the CADforum website in their CAD Blocks area. Visit http://www.cadforum.cz/catalog_en/ If you scan the plans then trace over them in AutoCAD do NOT expect them to be 100% accurate without doing a fair amount of tweaking, printing, checking and then more tweaking. It will not be a "one and done" process. Quote
