Adolucas Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Please I just started using Autocad and I would like to know how to go about printing scaled drawings form the Layout tab. How do I scale everything onto a say for example A3 paper in a scale of 1:100? Quote
CyberAngel Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Welcome to the forum. To print a drawing to scale, you typically create the plan in model space at actual size. In paper space you create a viewport at the scale you need. If you will be printing many plans, read the Help section for Viewports very carefully. Also, you are more likely to get help and get it quickly if you search the forum for an existing post that covers your question. Quote
ReMark Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 The viewport is assigned a scale. Whether or not your drawing will fit on the paper size you have selected we cannot say unless you were to post the drawing for us to look at. In any event, once you have assigned a scale to your viewport and set up the view the way you want, LOCK the display. This will prevent you from inadvertantly changing the display should you pop back into model space and execute the Zoom command. Quote
Adolucas Posted April 26, 2011 Author Posted April 26, 2011 Thanks for both comments but I have tried assigning a scale the A3 title block I inserted from Autocad but cannot seem to get it scaled down to the viewport scale. @ReMark. The drawing is a small one (approx. 15000*1500mm), so think it should fit an A3 sized paper perfectly. Quote
ReMark Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 It is the viewport that the scale is assigned to. This is what controls the ultimate plot scale of your model space objects. You should not have to scale your title block in your paper space layout. Quote
designerstuart Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 double click inside the viewport (unlocked and do zoom extents - double click mouse wheel if you have one) do you see your drawing? you can manually zoom in or out, or select a scale from the drop-down list. is this working? Quote
nicolas Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Hi, A few commands that can be of great help is -p with F8/F10 or written distance/angle for a more controlled move in viewport, mvsetup (to align or rotate views in viewports) and vpmax/vpmin. One setback I am personally having with mvsetup is that all the grips are deselected and I have to select all each time. On the overall, its powerful stuff. Regards, Nicolas Quote
BIGAL Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 One suggestion missing from above insert your Title block at a scale of 1:1 in the layout if A3 no title draw a box 420x297 then make a viewport within and set the scale of that viewport as suggested above plot at a scale of 1:1 for your A3, our title is A1 so we plot at 1:2 Quote
