Force layers to accept colours and linetypes

I have a lisp to transform layers from surveys. Can i force layers in a drawing to accept colours and linetypes from a dwt as part of the routine?

So you want to set all entities on a layer(s) to have their color property 'By Layer' and linetype property 'By Layer', is that correct?

No. I have that done. I want to force layers to take on colour and linetype of the same layernames in a dwt.

Thanks Alanjt. I used JTB Worlds notes on using laytrans in lisp and it didi the job.
