Grigs Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I've tried to use this to move an attribute inside a block, but then I go to add it to the selection set, it lets me pick it but then says: Select object to add to action set or [Remove]: 1 unlocked AttDef filtered Can the Move Action not affect an attribute? Quote
BlackBox Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you trying to use the move command on an attribute (nested within a block)? Are you trying to apply this change to all instances of this block, or just one? More information is needed (perhaps even a screen shot?). Quote
Grigs Posted May 4, 2011 Author Posted May 4, 2011 I have a square block that has 2 stretch actions and 2 move actions. Inside the square I have 2 mText fields and 1 attribute. I can use the move action attached to the stretch action so the text moves 1/2 the distance that stretch action goes. The mText objects move just fine. The attribute however doesn't. It gets removed from the selection set when I try to include it. Quote
SLW210 Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 The only thing I can think of would be that you have to check "Lock Position" in mode for the attribute. When locked it will move. Quote
Grigs Posted May 4, 2011 Author Posted May 4, 2011 No, I checked that both when I was creating the attribute and when I highlight it and go to it's properties, all are set to 'No'. I just tried it again and it removes the attribute from the selection set. Weird. Quote
SLW210 Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I just tried with the attribute locked and it worked for me. Quote
Grigs Posted May 4, 2011 Author Posted May 4, 2011 Maybe they changed it in 2010 so that you can moved an attribute in a block? Ok, something is odd. I just went in to the properties flyout for the attribute and locked it's position. I was then able to included it in the selection set. But when I went out and tried it, it wouldn't move. Quote
SLW210 Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Try recreating the attribute from start and locking on creation. Pretty sure it worked in 2008, should work in 2007. Quote
Grigs Posted May 4, 2011 Author Posted May 4, 2011 I recreated it, but it still acts the same. The attribute won't move. Quote
dbroada Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I can confirm that if you lock an attribute in 2008 it will move - I use it all the time. Can you post the block. Quote
qball Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Just to be clear, SLW is saying to make the attribute Lock Position YES. It seems like it's the opposite it should be, but it works. Quote
Grigs Posted May 4, 2011 Author Posted May 4, 2011 SLW210, I tried yours and the text moved. new block.dwg Quote
qball Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Grigs: LOCK POSITION = YES... do it.. make it happen.... we're gonna get through this! Quote
Grigs Posted May 4, 2011 Author Posted May 4, 2011 It doesn't matter if it's locked or not. It just won't move. Quote
qball Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Did you Lock then Modify Selection Set of the Move Action? worked for me. roomtag2.dwg Quote
Grigs Posted May 4, 2011 Author Posted May 4, 2011 Ok, your AutoCAD must me magical, because your block worked. Maybe I'll just have you do all my blocks from now on Thanks. Still unsure why my computer won't do it. Quote
qball Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 When I opened your block the RMNAME properties had Lock Position = No. All I did was change it and add it to the move actions as stated previously. (the AutoCAD user is magical "It was always you... you never needed the ring!!!" Quote
dbroada Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 ditto. Lock attribute, add to Move selection sets and it works fine. Quote
SLW210 Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 My AutoCAD is better than your AutoCAD Make sure you are saving your changes and updating. Quote
