Mason Dixon Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 somehow i got zoomed way out in paperspace and can't find my objects, how do i get back to centered over those? Quote
SLW210 Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Zoom extents. Lock your viewport after you get it right. Quote
Ohnoto Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 I'm assuming that you did ZOOM Extents. This happens when something is far away from your layout area. When you are fully extended, if you zoom just a bit further out, you should at least see a dot where something is located. Then you can do a ZOOM window to that location to see what is there. Quote
Mason Dixon Posted May 19, 2011 Author Posted May 19, 2011 Same thing is happening in model space, how do I lock it on just the stuff i'm working on, zoom extents is not working Quote
SLW210 Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Are your objects even visible? Did try the ZOOM WINDOW like ohnoto suggested? Post a screen shot. Quote
Ohnoto Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 From paper space, select the viewport, right click -> Display locked -> Yes. Alternatively, if you are using a newer version of ACAD, from within the viewport, there is a lock icon at the bottom below the command line. If it's yellow, its unlocked, just click that to lock it. Mason Dixon Posted May 19, 2011 Author Posted May 19, 2011 i've tried all the zoom options in model space and paper space and can't zoom into to find my stuff, if i switch views it will show my stuff but i can't zoom in on it Quote
Ohnoto Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Ok... now you have me confused. As SLW210 stated, can you post a screenshot? Quote
Mason Dixon Posted May 19, 2011 Author Posted May 19, 2011 If I switch to front view it will show my stuff but I can't zoom in. If I go to top view I get zoomed way out and can't zoom back in. Here is zoom extents. Quote
Mason Dixon Posted May 19, 2011 Author Posted May 19, 2011 I may be possible that i was trying to draw a circle in paperspace and used a huge measurement that created a huge circle. I can't seem to find it to delete it tho. Quote
Ohnoto Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Using the viewcube puts you into 3D. Are you trying to draw in 3D? It appears to me that you are drawing on a 2D surface, switching to 3D, and what may be a line in 2D is shown as a dot in 3D since you are looking at the side of it. Quote
Mason Dixon Posted May 19, 2011 Author Posted May 19, 2011 I am drawing in 3d and it was working fine switching to different views(i know what u mean tho)....i restarted autocad and I can zoom in now but it wants to zoom me out as far as possible still....i have to zoom in, regen, zoom in, regen, etc to finally get there Quote
qball Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 if you have a unique object that you know, ie a Block, you can use Qselect, then Zoom, Object, Previous. That should zoom you in to your work area. But that still leaves the rogue object out in space. So without being able to locate that and erase it, you may want to Wblock out the good stuff you've worked on. Quote
nestly Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 I use SELECT > ALL after Zoom>Extents to identify rogue objects off in space. Planning while in 3Dorbit can also move your camera very far from your model which can cause a condition that prevents zooming without first regenerating. I have a button to reset my camera to the default location. Quote
