neuri Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Hello, I have a question but it's a little hard to describe. Let's say I draw a rectangle, and I want to draw a line coming out from the rectangle. Normally I would use OSNAP to get midpoint and endpoint, but this time I want to draw it from any part of the edges of the rectangle. How do I get the cursor to "snap" to the lines of the rectangle? Similarly, I would like this function for the MOVE tool as well, I used this method in Sketchup before and really liked it a lot. How do I achieve this in AutoCAD? I tried Nearest, Prependicular, but they don't work as well. edit: just found out my subject line is not related , haha Quote
Jack_O'neill Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Not sure I entirely understand what you want to do. Do you want your new line to be actually touching the rectangle in your example or to simply be parallel/perpendicular to it? The "near" osnap will snap to whatever you put the crosshairs over, and you pick where. If you need a specific distance from say...one end of the rectangle, draw your line at that end, then use the offset or move command to position it. If you could post a sketch of what you're trying to do, that would help a lot. Nuthin like pictures. Quote
neuri Posted May 20, 2011 Author Posted May 20, 2011 I want it to snap to any line, rectangular or circular. But it's ok , went through all the F keys and found F11 does it. And now I got other questions related to drawing, this program just gives me a headache... Quote
