I am currently working on a road project and contain many xref drawings. There are several main drawings that have many xref drawings. It contain profiles pages, plan pages, cross section drawings, and few other stuffs.

I find myself utter blaffed at this moment. I opened first page main plan drawings. It show everything I need. I closed that then I opened second page main plan drawing. It doesnt show everthing. I go back to page 1 and checked the xref links to compare against page 2. They both are identical and all on. The xref drawing I need it to show on page 2 doesnt show up while page 1 does have it on YET page 2 plan Xref manager said that xref file is valid and working. I have no clue how to resolve this.

If I understand you correctly, each drawing has different Layer settings (or Layer State)... Look into the VISRETAIN system variable.

When VISRETAIN = 1, the Drawing controls how the XREF layers are presented.

When VISRETAIN = 0, the XREF controls how the XREF layers are presented.

Do a quick Zoom All and see if priorly the XREF was not in visable area.

It may be way off there in La-La land.

Renderman, VISRETAIN didnt work for my main problem but I learned something new. I will keep that in mind. Ironically, that was a problem for me with drainage plan xref and that Visretain command solved it. Thank!!

Coosbaylumber, Yeah It was a problem in past. But this one didnt go La-La on me:D

Are the layers perhaps frozen inside the viewport? Are you using Attached xrefs or Overlays?

Also from your description you seem to be using layout drawings. An xref is basically a block placed exactly like any other block is placed, i.e. it can be placed on a layer which might be frozen in one DWG, but not another - so even if you thaw & on all layers of that xref it might still not show. E.g.:

Say you've got A.DWG (with layes 1, 2 & 3) attached into B.DWG (placed on B's 2 Layer). You've got B.DWG xreffed into Layout.DWG. In Layout.DWG the A|1, A|2 and A|3 layers are all on & thawed, but B|2 is frozen - then none of A.DWG will display.
