jquackenbush Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Not sure if anyone here will be able to help me out or not. We have recently bought a GRS-1 GPS unit with Topsurv installed on it. I have used it as a data collector attached to a total station. For topo work it has been great, and it is just copy and paste into CAD. I want to take a CAD drawing, take the points out of it and import them onto the GPS unit. Can anyone help with this? Do i have to convert the CAD file into another format first? I have tried imort the CAD file directly and it will bring it in, but without the points. Any info would be great Quote
Ollie8974 Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Can you Enter the points into the GPS as way points? Quote
jquackenbush Posted June 24, 2011 Author Posted June 24, 2011 I can enter points in manually if this is what your asking. The jobs that we would be doing would have hundreds of points, which would take days to enter. Quote
SLW210 Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Doesn't Topsurv have a file/point Import function? What are the options for importing a file? Quote
jquackenbush Posted June 24, 2011 Author Posted June 24, 2011 They do allow you to import the CAD file, however, it will not bring anything in as a point. It will only show the drawing in the background. I would like to have the points come in so that I can lay-out roads, sidewalks, buildings, ect.. Am I missing a step some where? Quote
SLW210 Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Pretty sure you can select the file and then have an option for points. Or maybe even import just points. Do you have the manual? Quote
