X-Ref Question

I have a new plan and an existing plan each in their respective files. I X-Ref them together to create the "Proposed Plan".

On my A1-1 sheet I X-ref in the existing plan for the "Proposed Plan" but I also want my "Demolition Plan" on the A1-1 sheet. The Demolition plan is nothing but the Existing Plan with the demolition layer on.

I cannot turn the demolition layer on or off without turning it on or off on both the proposed plan and the demolition plan. They need to be opposite of each other. Since AutoCAD doesn't let you X-ref the same file into a file more than once what are my options?

Sounds like you should be in a layout creating viewports, then you can freeze/thaw layers per viewport.

BTW: You can xref a file in more than once, do it once, use rename, xref it in again.

To expand on what rkent said; after having inserted the same XREF with different names you will have a distinct set of layers for each XREF. You will then be able to freeze the "DEMO" layer in one while leaving it on in the other.
