samifox Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Hi Using AC 2008 LT After finishing my drawing with blocks, purging it, I like to send it over via email. Most of the time the file is oversized. I want to save a light version of my drawing without any blocks or other things that might add weight, . In other words I want the transitional version to contains nothing but exploded geometric and their corresponding layers, and of cures the outlined text. Is there a way to do it? Thanks Shay Quote
Cad64 Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 I want to save a light version of my drawing without any blocks or other things that might add weight Exploding blocks will not decrease file size, it will increase file size. Just use the PURGE command to eliminate any unused junk. Quote
samifox Posted July 2, 2011 Author Posted July 2, 2011 (edited) its not enoghe cuz im using lots of dynamic blocks. there are some i dont want to be used by others:twisted: Edited July 4, 2011 by Tiger Quote
Organic Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 As above use purge. Otherwise request a larger email limit or send it to them on a cd. I would be super annoyed if I was sent an exploded drawing and would want the unexploded version. Quote

Your dynamic blocks will lose their dynamic properties and be reduced to regular blocks. By the way, what's so special about your dynamic blocks that you're so protective of them? nestly Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 If you want to give them a drawing that shows everything, with layers/colors/lineweights, but is basically unusable for CAD purposes, send them PDF's. If you're supposed to be sending them usable CAD files and you're exploding everything first, you deserve all the nasty things they're saying about you when they open the drawing... Quote
BIGAL Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 You may need to go to xrefs and send multi emails to get around limits. Quote
danellis Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 My firm uses yousendit, https://www.yousendit.com/, to send large files. You attach your file to an email as normal, and if the attachment's over a certain size yousendit will kick in and ask if you want to send via yousendit. Assuming you click yes here your files are uploaded to the yousendit server and a link to this is added to your email, which then goes on to the receiver. We use the free version which is limited to a single file (but you can package stuff up into zip files) and, I think, 100MB. There is a paid version that removes these limits. dJE Quote
dbroada Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Has anybody checked whether we have more requests on how to make locked down drawings or more request on how to make real drawings out of PDFs and locked drawings? My feeling is that they are about equal. Quote
SLW210 Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 As above use purge. Otherwise request a larger email limit or send it to them on a cd. I would be super annoyed if I was sent an exploded drawing and would want the unexploded version. I wouldn't be annoyed at all. I would simply send an email response "We no longer will include you in our Contractor Bid List" "Thank you" Quote
