autocad 12 ribbons are faded

this is the second time his happened to me i can't figure it out. the ribbons all of the sudden are faded and i cannot select a command from them. i can see the rollover command but when i select i get nothing. doea anyone know what this is

are you using a full version or something like autocad light?

is there something specific your doing when this happens or is it a constant? are you attempting to do this from within another command?

i was changing my dimension styles, finished that then did a dimension hit esc and then i don't know what else i hit but i noticed the ribbons were faded

i fixed it

i change my work space settings from the tool bar at the top

all is well
