heypal Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Hello, Three of our drafters are receiving new PC's this week. They will be updating from a 32 bit XP machine to a 64 bit W7. We currently run AutoCad 2000i software (in conjuntion with Solidworks 2011). With the new PC's, the old 2000i will not run due to the 64 bit upgrade. My question is this. What are the options to get AutoCad loaded on the new PC's? Keep in mind that we do not use AutoCad on a regular basis, so the LT version would be fine. I was suprised to see the LT version was $870.00 (Amazon). I was hoping it would be much cheaper. Does Autodesk offer a network type licence to help reduce licencing fees? Thanks, Pal Quote
tzframpton Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 You could always try an alternative to Autodesk. TurboCAD, BriscCAD or ProgeCAD are a few much cheaper options. Or even Bentley products. Quote
Jack_O'neill Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I highly recommend Bricscad if you make a break from Autodesk. All if not most of them have a trial period, download different ones and use them to find one you like. Quote
SLW210 Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I would keep a couple of the old machines around for running the 2000i. Quote
heypal Posted July 18, 2011 Author Posted July 18, 2011 Thanks for all the suggestions. I just downloaded Draft Sight. So far it seams to work great and it is free. Quote
CaveMan Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Hi There is another product on the market called ZWCAD Uses DWG format and by far cheaper - maybe the way to go if you do not use AutoCAD that much? Quote
amarcon Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 (edited) I recently trialed "Corel CAD" and it is almost an LT beater with LISP, IMHO. Very good value with very simliar interface Read: LISP not VLisp Edited July 20, 2011 by amarcon extra info: Quote
