BlackBox Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 You need write-access to both the files and the directory in which the files reside. Quote

BlackBox Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Copied from duplicate post: I just installed my usual autocad program on a newer computer. now all my dwg files are read-only. The read-only box under properties is not checked What about the directory that contains the files? If you do not have write-access to the directory, it doesn't matter what the files are set to. Both must permit you write-access. Quote

Try right clicking on the directory itself, then select Properties... from there you should see a separate attribute for "Read-Only." Also to clarify, what do you mean by this: i recently transfered the same version of autocad to a new computer. Quote
Patrick Hughes Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 That's okay, no worries. Try right clicking on the directory itself, then select Properties... from there you should see a separate attribute for "Read-Only." This is the thing you want to do. They may have been set to read only if you had copied the files to a CD and then transferred them. Quote
