How do I set up a new profile?

I am setting up for a new client; all the profiles, blocks, layer/text standard pulldowns, menues, etc. I have never done this before! ( I'm really excited) The first thing I need to do (I think) is set up a new profile that dosn't pull up all my other clients information (Blocks, layer requirments, etc.). Everywhere I have ever worked has had someone to do this or already had it from the client so, I never learned it. I am looking forward to doing this but, I only have 2 days to set all this up and will be on this project for the next year or so, So I want to do it right.

Step one NEW PROFILE; I have looked for a tutorial or how to, but all the info I found was how to import/export or or what it is.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

How is that information being pulled up? Is it a template, tool pallet, custom menus, etc.?

Sorry bout that, Bossman walked up with questions. Just cause he ok my time card he thinks he's a priority! lol

I am free as a bird on how I set this thing up as long as I use the clients standards. I was thinking menues and pull-downs since I'm a bit of an oldfashion girl but, I'm game for anything that will make life easier.

One easy way is to make a copy of the AutoCAD shortcut in windows, hold ctrl down, drag and drop the shortcut on the desktop. Now right click, properties, shortcut tab, target line, after the "c:\...acad.exe" there should be a /p statement, change the to a new name you want so it would look like

/p client02, now rename the shortcut to Client02. If the profile statement doesn't exists then add the /p client02 after the "...acad.exe" string. Save and exit the shortcut, now start autocad with that shortcut, autocad will tell you it doesn't exist and then make one with that name. Once up you can make any changes and then should appear each time you use that shortcut.

Thanks, I'll give this a bash. I need to make some client specific icons so I can differentiate which is which down on my task bar. I'm having a blast with this! Yes, I need psychological help but company medical just don't cover what’s wrong with me! lol

What might also help is to change the description listed in the icon's properties, General Tab (at the top). This information is shown when you mouse over, and hover an icon.

Also, you say that you're setting up a new profile for your client's standards... do you have documentation on that? Be very cognizant of what the client requires before-hand so as to avoid wasting your time doing something that you think will be useful, only to find out the client wants that something done another way.

For example, one of my client's has an 809 page CAD Standard that we're required to follow when working on their projects. They dictate everything from layer names, colors, fonts, what entities can go in which drawings, what xrefs we must use, etc.

You'll want to use this information to setup your drawing template(s), Support File Search Paths, Text and Dimension Styles, File Naming Conventions, etc.
