atomantman04 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I am currently searching for a way to link a mid for a section, to a section cut on a plan. The plan and the section are in different CAD files. We are wanting to make it so we can change the number on the mids and it will update on the plan sheets. Quote
tzframpton Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I'm unclear by the term "Mid"? What is that exactly? And depending on how you have the files referenced, in ACA 2011 you can use a Section tool and create a Live Section through XREF's. In other words, if the two files are referenced in, say a View from the Project Navigator, then in the View just create a Live Section and select both XREF's. Quote
atomantman04 Posted August 16, 2011 Author Posted August 16, 2011 A mid is what we call the tag placed under the section that contains the section number sheet number and title of the section and scale that it is drawn at. These drawings are not 3D by the way. Quote
tzframpton Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Ah, makes sense. Can't you accomplish this by using a View Tag in the Project Navigator? Seems that's all you'd have to do unless I'm missing more details. Quote
atomantman04 Posted August 16, 2011 Author Posted August 16, 2011 I will have to research the project navigator. We have never used it here at the office. Thx for your help. Quote
tzframpton Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Okay so you haven't adopted the Project Navigator. Well, you can actually do this same thing with the Sheet Set Manager but the Project Navigator is far superior (only for big jobs that require lots of organization needs) if you can see good use out of it. Depending on your company needs, it can be overkill. So I would research the Sheet Set Manager first, and then venture off into the Project Navigator, which the Sheet Set Manager is embedded therein. I've attached an "oldie but goodie" PDF file that shows you exactly how to automate views with callouts which is what you're after. Automating_Views.pdf Quote
