Elisabeth83 Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Please help!!! I have created title blocks with attributes for the company I work for but we are now required to include more infomation. unfortunately different information is required for different drawings and we are getting confused and making errors. What I am trying to do is create 2 or 3 different title pages each with their own different information and attributes (i.e. landscape/portrait/signoff box/product key) within one block (probably dynamic) so that we can choose from a standard list as opposed to picking and choosing the information required which can take up alot of time:cry:. Is this possible? I am relatively new to autocad and I am using 2007LT but have access to 2011. Any thoughts appreciated! Quote
ReMark Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 You want to make one title block serve multiple purposes as opposed to creating a template for each use? Quote
Elisabeth83 Posted August 26, 2011 Author Posted August 26, 2011 Yes, but I have been having trouble with the attribute positions i.e. in some instances we are required to put in 4 or 5 extra information boxes which makes the page quite cramped, so to fit all the info on some of the standard title box info such as the revision box will need to be shortened. I end up with attributes all over the place! Quote
CyberAngel Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Welcome to the forum! Not knowing all the details of your situation, I would echo ReMark's concern. Creating a "one size fits all" block takes a lot of time (time you seem not to have) and makes it harder to handle the inevitable updates. If you can't fit all the requested information into the title block, you should suggest to your boss that you drop some of the information or put it somewhere on the plan itself. Define what should go in the title block and what can go on the plan. Another option is to define the additional information as a separate block (or set of interchangeable blocks). When you need one, insert it in its usual place. The INSBASE variable will help with that. We have one template in which the revision box is in a corner of the plan (and initially on a noplot layer). If it becomes necessary, we can edit the block, put the revision box on a plotting layer, and move it where it won't interfere with the plan itself. Quote
dbroada Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 you mentioned dynamic blocks which I normally love but this is not the best use of them. They react badly if you try to hide ATTRIBUTES with visibility states which I think you may be considering. TEXT acts fine but you can only have one visibility action for each block. This means that if you have 3 notes which may be needed in any combination you cannot have a visibility setting for each note you need lots (7).... 1 only 2 only 3 only 1 & 2 1 & 3 2 & 3 1, 2 & 3 you can work out your own list for more than 3. Elisabeth83 Posted August 26, 2011 Author Posted August 26, 2011 Thank you for all the help! I had a strong suspicion that what I was trying to do wasn't going to work! Quote
SLW210 Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 I would use Tool Palette or create a button Macro to insert the desired title block. Quote
DANIEL Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 you'll need at least one title block for landscape and one more for portiat, making one that suits both sizes doesnt seem practical. Quote
