vince1327 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Hey Everyone, I've got a quick (hopefully) question for you guys. I've just started working with Autocad 2012 and am using the Data Extraction Wizard to extract information into excel. Some of my drawings have upwards of 150+ layers and I don't necessarily need the information from every layer. Is there a way to have the data extraction wizard ignore layers of my choosing? Thanks for you help Vince Quote
DANIEL Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 I guess this is what I get for complimenting Autodesk on there 2012 release, I hadn't actually attempted to extract anything since upgrading but after reading this and looking through the changes they've made since 2007 all i can say is that's complete crap, what ever happened to 'if it aint broke don't fix it' ....... vince1327 Posted October 13, 2011 Author Posted October 13, 2011 Haha i'm guessing by your reply that this used to be a feature in previous versions? I'm not sure why they would have omitted this, it seems like a pretty logical option to select which layers one would like to extract information from. Is there a workaround possibly. I could write a bit of C# to allow one to choose the layers they need, have it export to a new drawing, extract from there and then return to the original, but it seems like a bit of a pain. Any insight would be great. Cheers Vince Quote
DANIEL Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 I use to use a 3rd party extractor with 2004 but I can't seem to find it at the moment. there is always that option but I'm not sutre what's out there at the moment, I'll have to do some leg work of my own it seems before I actually need to extract some stuff. There may be someone around here with some good options though so give this thread some time. And welcome to CAD tutor . Quote
vince1327 Posted October 13, 2011 Author Posted October 13, 2011 Great, thanks for the help. Hopefully someone in here has run into this before, it seems so simple Quote
