Blocks Inserting Improperly

Recommended Posts

I just created a dynamic block for our rev clouds, cause they're annoying to draw. I'll attach it so you can see.

For some reason when I insert it, it is automatically inserting at 0,0. Why is it doing that? Also, if I put it into a Tool Palette (my boss just discovered these, so I'm creating a whole bunch for the company... those things are AWESOME) and when I use the Tool Palette, it works just fine.

Now, this won't be a problem as long as everyone uses the TP's I'm creating, but we have one Engineer in particular that's a toolbag and doesn't seem to remember to use all the stuff I spend all this time researching and programming.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Nevermind. I just looked again and apparently I had a base point parameter in there somewhere. It was off in space. Whoops.

OK, so which issue was it again, your engineer or your block?

It helps to talk things through, even if you're talking to yourself sometimes. :D

Indeed. It also tripped me up for one second that it kept automatically inserting at 0,0... I had unclicked the "Specify Onscreen" box by accident. I NEVER unclick that box. It was my blond moment for the day. It's Friday, I'm allowed.

If anyone here is smarter than me at Dynamic blocks, I would love a suggestion on how to do what I'm doing in that block with just one grip to edit. You know, lie when you adjust a viewport size, and it just scales itself accordingly. I tried the XY parameter... but that doesn't do what I want. I can't separate actions. Anyone got any ideas?

Did you know that you can make revision clouds from poly lines? Draw a poly line where you want your cloud. Type REVCLOUD. Make sure the arc lengths are appropriate for the scale of your space/drawing. Then type O for object and select your poly line.

@Rob: Of course I do. But that's multiple steps. I'm trying to do it in one.
