tzframpton Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Has anybody been using the Content Explorer yet? It's new in AutoCAD 2012. Most users in my office are using AutoCAD 2011 but looks like we'll be upgrading soon I do believe. What I'm after is a discussion on using the Content Explorer in a network environment. It seems to be beefier and way better than using the now ancient Design Center, although still lacks terribly compared to the "real" content management apps out there. I'm in charge of setting the new standards at my new company and I figure might as well use the Content Explorer since it's the latest and greatest. I didn't know if anybody already has familiarity with it running across a network. Thanks in advance. Quote
rkent Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 I haven't asked IT here to install it, assuming they will not want it on their servers but I hope I am wrong. The Content Explorer works wonders on the local hard drive so I do hope to get it on the servers at some point to try it out. Quote
tzframpton Posted November 30, 2011 Author Posted November 30, 2011 I didn't realize it could be an optional thing. I figured it was apart of AutoCAD 2012 altogether. And it definitely does work wonders. Far above the Design Center but I still feel like it needs more options and maturing, which will come in time so I'll stay optimistic and patient. I'm glad to see a step forward, regardless. Quote
rkent Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 I just noticed there is an update for it for the server side, the errors that were fixed were pretty big items. Quote
