kextreme Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Is it possible to have a group of contour lines drawn as hidden lines to suddenly change to continous linetype at a specific boundary or plane? If so how does one remove this feature using AutoCAD 2011? Thanks, Kevin Quote
ReMark Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Wouldn't they have to be two separate lines? Quote
kextreme Posted December 8, 2011 Author Posted December 8, 2011 They are the same lines. The civil file I'm working on has a fence boundary around the site. As the topo contour lines cross over the fence line they turn from hidden to continous, like there is a invisable attribute or somthing overriding them. If I go to the base sheet they are all shown as hidden lines before there xrefed into the civil sheet. Quote
rickh Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Is the same file attached twice with an xclip for each? If you unload one xref known to have contours, do some of the contour lines still display? If so, the two xrefs can have different overrides applied. (they would have different xref names, but both referencing the same file). Quote
eldon Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Have you checked in Properties, that they are the same or different linetypes. Often, when a curve-fit polyline is broken, the linetype generation is disabled on one part of the line. Quote
kextreme Posted December 8, 2011 Author Posted December 8, 2011 The polylines are joined together (not broken) and the linetype generation is turned on in the properties box. There is only on xref and no xclip boundries. Just can't seem to figure it out? Quote
BIGAL Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 You may need two surfaces just copy and paste in same job create a Boundary in one surface have internal in one other external then you will need the contour interval label style twice also as it can only have one line type assigned to it. Should work With this type of question need to think outside the square, no limits of the software. Quote
kextreme Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 I never found out what the other company did to the drawing. We got a new topo and created a new working topo drawing which replaced the old one. I was hoping I could have solved this issue and posted my results. We've had some extreme deadlines dates I've had to meet and not enough time to figure out the fix. Thanks again for everones help, Good Luck to all! Kextreme Quote
hazardman Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 is it possible that while the drew the continous polyline that they went forwards and backwards and forward thus creating coincidental overlaps?..this overlap may make the hidden line look like it's continous at the overlaps....other than that, i don't know of any command in autocad that will let you vary the linetype and/or linetype scale on a single polyline...
