how to create serie with parameters?

I would like to create a library as starter project for a unistruts elements. To identify different type of elements and lengths I would like to use parameters. How I recognize it, it is just used for one drawing. I need a general parameter which collects many drawings to a library of alternatives.

For easy usage I would prefer using Excel and identify the parameters there. Could I import that excel table to Inventor 2012?

Could you please help me tell how to do it or send me a video tutorial?
