Newbie Modelling Query

Hi List

I have a tapered cylinder part onto which I want to attach blocks along the length. I want it to appear as one piece when finished and be able to edit the shape slightly to give it a nice sculpted organic look. This is like a flute and the blocks will have 3mm slots running up the middle along the length of the flute. I'm just wondering in a general sense how best to approach this project. If I can get advice on the best method I can research further. For example - should I be studying the sculpt facility for this or is there a better way? I'm enclosing my model thus far.

You attached a dwg file in the Inventor forum.

Are you using AutoCAD or are you using Inventor?

My apologies. I am using inventor but when I tried to upload as an .ipt or .iam it gave me an invalid file error. Hence the .dwg

Find the red End of Part marker at the bottom of the feature tree.

Drag the red EOP to the top of the feature tree hiding all features.

Save the file with the EOP in a rolled up state.

In Windows explorer right click on the filename and select Send to Compressed (zipped) Folder.

Attach the resulting *.zip file here.

I can't get the EOP to move so I've attached the two parts separately. I think you'll get the idea. I want to attach the block to the cylinder and hopefull sculpt it to a smooth organic shape. Thanks for reply BTW

Works fine here.

Simply click and drag it upward - you should see a black line.

Drop it just below the Origin Folder.

Are you referring to the .ipt or the .iam. If the .ipt it works but you don't have the block part in that. If the .iam I don't have an EOP in the tree.
