I have an interest in learning AutoLISP. I have read over the quick start on CADTutor and still don't have a good grasp on it. Is there another book or some other means that you guys would recommend I take a look at?

Thanks

There are a ton of resources for you to learn from... The developer documentation is where I go the most (use VLIDE command, then hit F1). I know that Lee's written some good tutorials here, and a really learned a lot from David Stein's book The Visual LISP Developer's Bible.

There's a ton more to learn from, just find a resource that you find interesting and read through, do as many examples as you can, and write code, write code, write code... It's the best way to learn.

Good luck!

Another question. With the free or budget friendly versions on CAD, is LISP a option?

LISP can only be run on full versions of CAD, not LT versions.

When you say CAD i assume you mean AutoCad, Correct?

Vanilla AutoCAD, Mechanical, Civil3D, Architecture, BricsCAD - all run LISP I believe.

I keep hearing about this site... Now that I've been developing for, oh, +/-2 years I guess I should check it out, huh?
Do as you like, but don't discount the wealth of knowledge available and the time Kenny R. (original owner) and David W. have put in to the site and just keeping it going. A lot of people wouldn't be at their coding level if it weren't for that site.

I was being sincere... I vaguely recall a thread where David mentions the change of ownership.

IMO, it's a testament to the great help I've received from members such as yourself, Lee, etc. that I've come as far as I have without delving into the AfraLISP site. :notworthy:

I figured as much, but I just wanted to make sure.

You're welcome. Believe me, I've spent my share of time reading at afralisp. :)

I learned AutoLisp from 4 sources worth listing:

Maximizing AutoLISP by Joseph Smith and Rusty Gesner

AutoLisp Treasure Chest by William Kramer

AutoLisp: Programming for Productivity by William Kramer

A coworker, who introduced me to AutoLisp back in 1998, David S., man was he good!

AfraLisp was a good internet source...even made a logo for Kenny which he put up on AfraLisp.

Re free or budget CAD nearly all of them suppport lisp $500 Intellicad CAD supported VBA I think from day 1, CorelCAD's Macro writes .net code.

We had to do some simple patch to some lisps and all our code worked on Intellicad.

LT $2500+ no lisp v's $500 ????
