resullins Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Ok, I know how to work with anno text and dims, but I need to create an annotative, dynamic block. Can anyone help me? Or is there a really good tutorial out there? Quote
Grant Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Found this? http://www.cadforum.cz/cadforum_en/qaID.asp?tip=4805 Never had to do this myself, all mine have always been stretching the blocks Hope this helps Quote
resullins Posted January 25, 2012 Author Posted January 25, 2012 I looked at that... but I would rather not do it dynamically if at all possible. I know you can do it... I just can't find a good tutorial on how. Quote
Grant Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 I think you would have seen this but in Block Definition dialog box under Behavior click Annotative Quote
resullins Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 Yeah, I got that part. But I also need to make it dynamic. The only way I've found to do it is by creating my geometry, say in a file called "Keynote." Then I make it into a block, check the annotative box, and THEN have to go into the block editor and give it all the dynamic properties. This means that when you save the drawing, there's a block in it... so you can't just insert the drawing AS a block, which annoys me. Quote
Grant Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 How about Write Block out once you have completed the Dynamic Block? Quote
resullins Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 Apparently if you make a dynamic block annotative AFTER making if dynamic, you lose the dynamic properties. You HAVE to do it the other way around. Quote
Grant Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Sorry about my ignorance on this as I have never had to do that before. Maybe Acad 2013 will sort it a little better. Quote
resullins Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 No worries, any help is appreciated! I hope they figure this out. Cause it's obnoxious. And frankly, I'm a little neurotic, so everything annoys me. I also hope they come up with a better name than AutoCAD '13. Cause all I can see are the bugs that will inevitably make me want to claw my eyes out with Freddy Krueger's left hand. Quote
Grant Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Thats Autocad 95% there but the last 5% pisses you off big time Quote
resullins Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 Damn right! If only they would hire me as one of the developers. I'm so touchy that if they got the product to the point where it didn't **** ME off, they would have the best piece of software on the market. Quote
resullins Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 So... apparently I can say damn but not p*ss. Quote
krimson Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 So, what about creating your block in a drawing called "blocks". You can store the drawing on the server or locally. Create the block, making it dynamic and annotative, and save it in this "blocks" drawing. Then you can drag the block into the tool palette for use anytime. Or you could save it in the template, drag it to the tool palette, erase it from the template, but don't purge it out. Also, if it's stored in the template, you can also just type insert and insert it that way. Hope I understood what you were trying to do. If not, ignore me. Quote
resullins Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 That is the solution I've been using. However, I'm working on implementing tool palettes for the whole company, so until I get all the tool palettes up, working, and my boss is happy, I'm trying to keep everything in separate files. He's used to working with the INSERT command and selecting a file. Which means I'm going to be creating these blocks, and he can't use them for a while... which makes it look like I'm not doing anything creative... and frankly, that's the thing I'm famous for... creating fun stuff to play with.
