Hi , I have some problems adding hatches to audtocad library. the acad.pat file I had already changed, and now I can't save it normally. Every time I intend to save it announces me that it's a text-only file and saving it ,will delete all the files I added... so please help and solve the problem... I started using AutoCAD recently, so please write down all the actions like an instruction for beginners )) hoping to have answers as soon as possible)) thx

Well it sounds like you added something to the acad.pat file that is not in a text format and AutoCAD doesn't like it.

Back out. Don't touch the standard pattern file ACAD.PAT.
Instead follow the instructions in the last post in this thread.

Look for your patterns in the Custom tab.

Really! Are you reading the same warning that you posted the picture of. The warning only says it is going to remove all formatting from the text only file, not to delete anything. Perhaps you are seeing something else :?

It is more flexible if you add hatches as individual files. Then when you update, you have them all in one place. :D

I kinda allready made some changes... Is it possible to undo the changes, i dunno, maybe get the original acad somewhere? And where to copy the hatches?

If your acad pattern file is still working, then you are fine.

With the new pattern files, I would make a new folder that was placed sensibly, and copy the new patterns into it. Then you have to add that folder to the Support File Search Path in the Files tab of Options, and the patterns will be shown in the Custom area of the Hatch Pattern Palette.

I have given you enough key words so that you can find your way to success. Your Help file will provide further details if needed.

If I give you a letter by letter instruction, you will never have the courage to conquer AutoCAD.

I first wrote the post, and after postin I added the picture, and was lazy to change.. However it doesn' t add the hatches to the library... So it doesn't really matter..)))
