Nitr3x Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 I've noticed lately that when I save and load files it sometimes takes a lot longer than it should. When I checked out the file sizes I noticed that their size seemed to be at least a gig (1GB) bigger, sometimes doubling in size. I know it's not layering, images or xrefs or anything like that. I've dealt with this problem before by inserting the patch http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=15412532&linkID=9240698. However it doesn't seem to work anymore; I think it's because I upgraded to Windows 7. I get this error when I try using the patch. Does anyone know of a way to fix this problem for Windows 7? My computer and software info are on the side. Quote
ReMark Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Your version of Civil 3D 2009 is 32-bit? Quote
Nitr3x Posted January 30, 2012 Author Posted January 30, 2012 It says it's optimized for 64-bit, but it can run in 32. If there was a setting when I installed it to pick one of the two I do not remember running across it. Quote
ReMark Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Did you find and overwrite the AeccNetwork.dbx file as instructed? Quote
Nitr3x Posted January 30, 2012 Author Posted January 30, 2012 Yes, and I get an error when I try and open CAD; that's what the image was for in my first post. Quote
ReMark Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Yes, I know. I was working my way there. Did you happen to check if there was more than one version of the file? Where exactly, did you find the file? Was it in C:\Program Files\AutoCAD Civil 3D 2009? Quote
Nitr3x Posted January 30, 2012 Author Posted January 30, 2012 There is only one version of the file, AeccNetwork.dbx. It is found in my C:\Program Files (x86)\AutoCad Civil 3D 2009. There is also the ajoining AeccNetworkEnu.dll file. Quote
ReMark Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 And did you also load all updates when Civil 3D 2009 was installed on this computer? Did any of the updates incorporate the hot-fix? I see your software was meant to be used with XP or Vista. Quote
Nitr3x Posted January 30, 2012 Author Posted January 30, 2012 I installed the updates the first time I tried installing Civil 3D, but it messed up the software; I couldn't even open CAD at all. I had to reset my computer and re-install Civil 3D, this time without the updates. If you're wondering wether it was the updates that caused my problems and not something else, I redid everything I did to my computer on another one (we got new computers at work and it was my job to set them up). I made sure to check the computer step by step to see where it stopped working properly. It worked fine up to the point where I loaded the updates. Quote
ReMark Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 So to recap, you installed Civil 3D 2009 but with none of the updates and then you installed the hotfix but you get the error. I sense,as you do, it is more a compatibility problem with the OS (Win 7). I think you'll have to try running Civil in Win XP compatibility mode. You might also try looking into a program like Longbow Converter. Quote
Nitr3x Posted January 30, 2012 Author Posted January 30, 2012 I thought as much. I was just hoping someone else might come up with something where I could stay in Windows 7. Thanks for the help. P.S. Hope it works, haven't actually tried it yet. Quote
Nitr3x Posted January 30, 2012 Author Posted January 30, 2012 Tried it, doesn't work. Same error. Now I'm confused. Quote
