Reload and repair

In the past when ACAD had problems one could put the disc in and select the option to repair registry. Now that it's all downloaded, how do we "repair" ACAD?

Posted

  1. On the Start menu (Windows), click Settings > Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove Programs (Windows 2000/XP) or Programs and Features (Windows Vista/Windows 7).
  3. Select the Autodesk product, and then click Change or Modify.
  4. Follow the prompts to repair/reinstall the software.

Thanks ReMark. It seems to have helped with my hatch problem so far. Any hatch was locking up, now its ok. But I still can't find my Object Snap toolbar. When i right click on other TB it shows that it is on, but must be off screen or behind another. If I type "-toolbar" then "objectsnap" it says not found.

I often wonder how people manager to lose their toolbars so easily. I've used AutoCAD a fair number of years and have yet to lose a single toolbar. Are you texting while you are cadding? LOL

Did you try typing it this way: object_snap ?

Ah hah, you caught me. I was just asking my wife where we're going for lunch. So I missed the underscore in "object_snap".

So if I type "float" then "10,10" the TB should show up somewhere in the lowerleft corner of the screen, right? But it dosen't. I don't know where it got to.

You need to pay closer attention to the fine print. LOL

I always accept the default of rather than Float and I do not put any coordinates in. Maybe it is hiding.

That's what she says. LOL

I have tried both and and the TB is still hiding somewhere.

I minimized the two drawings I have open to see if it was behind them, but nothing is there.

I still have 2010 on my computer and when I open it up the toolbar is right where I left it, but in 2012 I haven't seen it show up at all.

OK, so apparently I not only need to read the fine print but I need to look more closely. The OS toolbar just barly shows in the lower left. I have now moved it into a newplace and locked the location.

Thanks for your help ReMark. Hope you had a good lunch.

You're entirely welcomed. :)

I'd get those glasses checked too the next time you are out to lunch. LOL

One thing I've seen happen is when using 2 monitors and then going to 1 for some reason (replace with 1 large wide format - or go on a presentation trip and only take one monitor).

There is some (Windows) keystroke combination to bring everything back on the screen, but I can never remember what it is.

I'll have to try setting a second monitor although I'm sure I'll find this a bit disconcerting at first. However, a long, long time ago, in a galaxy very far away I used a two monitor setup. I had a 14" amber color monitor for text only and a 21" color monitor for my drawing. This is back when AutoCAD was just a baby and running in DOS.
