Bogbadbob658 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I have a large survey which I have xref'd into a drawing both of which are using the same units etc. The problem is the origin point of the xref file has moved so although the insertion point is 0,0 it draws the objects in a different location. I realise I probably haven't explained it the problem to well so I have attached 2 files to show what is happening. File 1 has a rectangle drawn from the origin 0,0. File 2 has File 1 xref'd into it with the insertion point 0,0. however if you look at where it's drawn the rectangle in file 2 it doesn't start at 0,0. Can someone see what I'm missing? file 1.dwg File 2.dwg Quote
RobDraw Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 (edited) There is something wrong with File 1 but I couldn't figure out what. I copied and pasted the rectangle into a fresh file and then XREFd it into File 2 and it came in as expected. I did notice that there is an audit-badlayer in that file leading me to belive that it may be corrupt. Edited March 7, 2012 by RobDraw Quote
danellis Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 I've not looked at the files, but try making sure that the basepoint of File 1 is set to 0,0,0. Use the BASE command. dJE Quote
eldon Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 I did look at the drawings, and the Base point in File 1 is set at (358203.120,169819.967). Do what danellis says and set the Base pint to (0,0) and your rectangle will be in Bristol instead of the Atlantic Ocean Quote
Bogbadbob658 Posted March 7, 2012 Author Posted March 7, 2012 Thanks to everyone for the help. Over 15 years of using ACAD and I've never used the BASE command. Guess you can teach old dogs new tricks. Quote
RobDraw Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Base point was the first thing I looked at yesterday but it was 0,0. It somehow changed overnight. Quote
